Free Public Outdoor Recreation Event
Slated Around Arizona’s 2008 Big Game
Scottsdale, Arizona -
Forever Resorts,
LLC, one of the nation’s largest
national park concession operators, in
conjunction with GET OUDOORS USA! and
the American Recreation Coalition (ARC)
will team up to create a free “Outdoor
Recreation Village” highlighting healthy
outdoor recreation opportunities across
the country. With hands-on activities
and interactive outdoor recreational
choices, the Outdoor Recreation Village
will be open to the public in the
Westgate City Center near the University
of Phoenix stadium from January 31 –
February 3, 2008. The Outdoor
Recreation Village event will kick-off a
public/private partnership between
government agencies and recreation
organizations designed to reverse a
decline in outdoor recreation
participation in America, especially
among youth. “This is an exciting
opportunity allowing youth to experience
for themselves a number of countless
recreational choices we have to enjoy
the great outdoors,” stated Rex Maughan,
president of Forever Resorts. “This is
one of the reasons we refer to it as the
great outdoors. Derrick Crandall,
president of ARC commented, “There will
be high-tech activities like geocaching,
information on planning visits to the
one-third of the nation managed by
federal agencies like the National Park
Service, fishing and boating simulators,
plus the chance to tour a premier 75'
luxury Forever Houseboat and more. We’ll
also invite people to come by to sign up
to be a junior ranger or a Take Pride in
America volunteer, to find out about
Pocket Rangers – and download free
podcasts about exciting places to see
outdoors.” Special demonstrations
will be given by the Phoenix
WOW-Wonderful Outdoor World campers,
inner-city youth, who experience an
overnight campout in the heart of their
community to open their eyes to healthy
outdoor fun available on public lands
across the nation.
Only a limited number of sponsorships
for the event remain available for this
first-ever event. Additional information
